so i watched the movie "Two Lovers" the other day. at first i thought, ok, i get it. i get the heartbreak, ect. i watched the entire movie feeling almost sympathetic, then it ended. wtf? are you kidding me? what a stupid movie. what a stupid movie about settling. both main characters settle. he runs back to the girl, that he never really wanted and proposes to her because gweneth (who also settles, because she's so fucked up) ran off with the guy she was pining away for that finally left his wife. what kind of message is that? take a risk, and if it doesn't work out, then just settle for what's already there. If i were him, i would have taken that flight to SF and started a new life.
i have a huge problem with settling. so many people find something, that seems good enough, and stay. people don't change for two reasons: fear and hope. they go hand-in-hand. that movie is a perfect example.
