seventies

it's almost officially spring and the weather has been amazing. today was 78. wow. i was wearing shorts and sandals. i managed to get in two bike rides, kiddy spent the day outside running around, and flowers are blooming everywhere. not to mention it's still daylight at 7pm. at this rate, we might just skip right to summer. this warm weather gets me excited for...

swimming...

camping...

tasty beverages on sunday afternoons...

and outdoor hookah! :p

so many good things to look forward to.

whale watching

On Tuesday, kim and i went whale watching. i was so excited...splash, splash! woke up early, got starbucks, then off to the ocean. we stopped at the visitor center in pt. reyes to buy a t-shirt with grey whales on it. i figured it was in spirit of the the grey whale migration ;) I also found out there had been 30 whale sightings on Monday. so, first we went to limantour beach. it was 70 degrees and sunny! we decided it was a good place to bring out the kite, since it was also a bit windy.

It was our first time at this beach, but no whales yet...Kimber, the amazing kite flyer, brought her fancy trick kite.

we decided to head to our next loaction at north beach. we scanned the ocean for any sign of a whale, had binoculars in hand just waiting...but nothing. By then it was noon and we were starving. We left for Drakes beach, both our favorite place. I packed a delicious lunch: Vietnamese chicken, spinach salad with strawberries, walnuts, and raspberry/lime vinaigrette, cheese and crackers, and lastly, wine to wash it all down :)

after we ate, we hiked up a cliff to look out over drakes beach. it reminded us both of Ireland, even though neither of us had been...

then it was back down on the sand, where we walked for hours collecting shells and rocks.

the sun was starting to go down so for one last attempt at seeing the whales, we went to south beach. we waited...and waited...and waited...but no whales :(

but, a sunny warm day at the beach, warrants no complaints from me. we had a great day, whales or not. in fact, we managed to get in some one on one time with natures favorite creatures :D

we had a great day :)

my winter adventure

last week i spent a few days in lake tahoe with Kim. before we left i checked the weather and was pleased to see snow on it's way. we arrived in the evening but by morning it looked like this...

it was snowing, a LOT. good thing we were in the land cruiser...

the next morning it was sunny with blue skies. i was happy to be in a beautiful place.

we went to the snowy beach...

so here i am at the beach, the day after a big snow storm. still freezing out, and even though you can't see them, I'm wearing snow boots in the sand! ha!

and, the drive home was gorgeous...

zoom zoom!

i've been realizing lately, particularly this year, has been a year in which i can actually do the things i want to do, no one to hold me back, and nobody to tell me otherwise! i've gone on all sorts of road trips by myself. been to the beach more than i can count, been camping, i'm meeting all kinds of new people, i'm drinking starbucks, i'm making business contracts, dying my hair black the way i like it, and now i have a (sure to be fabulous) destination wedding to look forward to for Kate and Bryce ;) and tonight, i went on a motorcycle ride. i heart motorcycles. i have so much fun on them, they make me happy!

lavender and sand

this weekend i spent a couple of days in half moon bay. the weather was AMAZING. the beach was perfect. i stayed at a house just a short walk from the beach with ocean views.

dear ocean, i love you.

forever yours,

friday night we drove to san jose to see a concert, later met up with Kate, Melita, Bryce and Cody for drinks and fun. i'm waiting to get photos. by the end of the night, kate and i were ready to fall asleep on a lavender bush, or at least take a quick nap! lets just say that wasn't the first time kate layed down on that lavender bush :D

here pigeon, pigeon.

i was taking a walk through a local park recently with a friend when we came across a few pigeons. she's like "look how cute, little pigeons..." I'm like, "uh yea, that's a good looking pigeon!" i proceeded to explain the difference between city pigeons and these well kept, friendly, stay out of your way types at the park we were at. it reminded me of gary and penny, a pigeon couple that used to live outside my window. i wrote about them a couple of years ago, here. i miss those little birdies. anyway, i don't miss the dirty, scruffy looking flocks of them that used to hang out near the alley in the last place i lived. i swear every time i walked by i felt like it was a scene out of hitchcocks movie "the birds" (which happens to be one of my all-time favorites.) nonetheless, those pigeons were not very friendly, and in desperate need of a serious bird bath. there was a another little fella that used to hang outside the window seal. i never named him, but he would let me get so close to photograph him. i probably could have made him my pet :)

so here you go friend, here are some photos for you...
